What To Expect

  • Kalkan to Demre

Kalkan is a charming coastal town known for its relaxed atmosphere, scenic harbor, boutique shops, and stunning Mediterranean views.
This small-group tour is the perfect way to explore the historical and natural wonders beyond Kalkan, starting with a comfortable morning transfer from designated meeting point.

From there, you’ll travel to Demre, set sail on a boat to discover the sunken city of Kekova, visit the ancient Lycian ruins of Myra, and walk in the footsteps of St. Nicholas — all in one unforgettable day.

  • Demre Harbour

Our journey begins with a scenic drive from Kalkan to Demre Harbour, where your boat awaits. With your small group, you’ll board a traditional wooden gulet and prepare to set sail along one of Turkey’s most captivating coastlines.

As soon as the anchor is raised, your adventure to Kekova Island begins — crystal-clear waters, ancient ruins, and hidden coves are just ahead!

  • Kekova Island & the Sunken City

Prepare to be amazed as we cruise past the Sunken City of Kekova — the ancient Lycian settlement of Dolchiste, which slipped beneath the waves after a powerful earthquake in the 2nd century.

This protected archaeological site is a highlight of the day, where you’ll spot partially submerged staircases, stone walls, and ancient foundations visible just below the surface.
While swimming is not allowed here, our boat glides slowly along the coastline — perfect for photos and a closer look at the ruins that history left behind.

  • Simena Castle (Kaleköy Village)

Entrance Fee: €4 (or free with the Museum Pass Turkey or Mediterranean Museum Pass)

We’ll anchor at the charming port of Kaleköy, the modern village built on the ruins of ancient Simena. You’ll have about one hour to explore this postcard-perfect spot at your own pace.

Take a scenic walk up to the Byzantine-era Simena Castle, perched above the village, where panoramic views of the Kekova coastline and Lycian tombs await. Along the way, you can sample homemade ice cream, browse local crafts, or simply soak up the peaceful atmosphere.

Prefer to stay closer to sea level? Enjoy a swim in the pristine turquoise waters or relax on the boat while taking in the beauty of this untouched village.

  • Esmeralda Bay – Lunch & Swim Stop

Next, we’ll anchor at the serene and picturesque Esmeralda Bay, a hidden gem known for its crystal-clear waters and peaceful surroundings.

Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch on board — freshly prepared and served by our friendly crew. After your meal, take a refreshing swim or simply relax on deck and soak in the beauty of the bay. This tranquil stop is the perfect mid-point to unwind and recharge before we continue our journey.

  • Burç Bay – Swim in Refreshing Spring Waters

Our next stop is the tranquil Burç Bay, a favorite among locals for its uniquely cool and refreshing waters.

Here, you’ll enjoy a swim in a spot where natural underwater springs mix with the sea, creating a pleasantly crisp contrast to the warmer coastal waters. The peaceful surroundings and turquoise hues make this a rejuvenating break before we head back to shore.

  • Gökkaya Bay – Swim & Optional Water Sports

We’ll make a stop at the stunning Gökkaya Bay, one of Kekova’s most scenic and vibrant locations.

Surrounded by lush green hills and sheltered coves, this bay is perfect for a leisurely swim — or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try one of the optional water sports available in the area, such as banana boat rides, ringo, or jet skiing (extra cost applies).

Whether you choose to relax or dive into the fun, Gökkaya Bay offers something for everyone.

  • Pirates Cave – A Natural Marvel

As we cruise along the Kekova coastline, we’ll pass by the mysterious Pirates Cave — a naturally-formed sea cave known for its impressive size and distinctive curved entrance.

According to local legends, the cave was once a hiding spot for pirates who roamed the Mediterranean. Today, it’s a fascinating sight that adds a touch of adventure to your journey.

  • Karemlik Bay – Sea Turtle Spotting

Did you know that 3 of the world’s 7 sea turtle species live in the Mediterranean? At Karemlik Bay, we’ll slow down and take time to admire this calm and biodiverse area — one of the best places to spot sea turtles in their natural habitat.

Keep your eyes on the surface as these gentle creatures often rise for air. With a bit of luck and patience, you might witness a magical moment as a loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) glides gracefully through the turquoise waters.

  • Return to Demre Harbour – Journey Continues on Land

After your memorable cruise through the bays and ruins of Kekova, we return to Demre Harbour, where the second part of your adventure begins.

From here, you’ll head to the historical heart of Demre for a guided visit to one of the region’s most culturally significant landmarks — with stories of ancient Lycian civilization and early Christian heritage waiting to be uncovered.

  • The Ancient City of Myra

    Duration: ~1 hour
Entrance Fee: €13 (or free with the Museum Pass Turkey or Mediterranean Museum Pass)

Step into the ancient world with a visit to Myra, one of the most important cities of the Lycian League. This impressive archaeological site is rich in history and atmosphere, dating back as far as the 5th century B.C.

Take your time exploring two of Myra’s most iconic landmarks:

A remarkably well-preserved Roman-style theatre, the largest in all of ancient Lycia

The hauntingly beautiful rock-cut Lycian tombs, carved high into the cliffs — a striking reminder of the city’s ancient past

This is a must-see for history lovers and photographers alike.

  • Demre to KaÅŸ

After a day filled with history, nature, and unforgettable coastal views, we’ll begin the scenic drive back to Kalkan.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the incredible sights and stories shared on this small-group adventure, and we look forward to welcoming you on another journey soon!
