Esmeralda Bay is one of the numerous beautiful bays near Simena Castle, located opposite the famous Kekova Island, not far from Demre.
It has a rather distinctive name compared to the other bays in this region. Rumour has it that the bay is named after the first-ever Blue Cruise boat that arrived in Kekova in 1960.
Another possible theory is that the name is derived from the word, emerald. This isn’t too far-fetched a thought, as the bay does indeed possess the visual characteristics of an emerald gemstone. Upon approaching the bay, you will immediately recognise the deep green-blue colour of the water.
Although you may become mesmerised by the glorious sight, don’t forget to take a dip in the water, and submerge yourself in this wonderful jewel of a bay.
