Esmeralda Bay is among the numerous beautiful bays near Simena Castle, opposite the famous Kekova Island near Demre.

It has a distinctive name compared to the other bays in this region. Rumour has it that the bay is named after the first-ever Blue Cruise boat that arrived in Kekova in 1960.

Another possible theory is that the name is derived from the word emerald. This isn’t too far-fetched a thought, as the bay possesses the visual characteristics of an emerald gemstone. Upon approaching the bay, you will immediately recognise the deep green-blue colour of the water.
