Demre – Kekova Tour Route
Once you are settled into your hotel in picturesque Olympos, you can prepare for your Kekova and Demre tour.
Be ready and wait for our team to pick you up from your chosen meeting point in Olympos.* Our comfortable 14-seater vehicle will transfer you to Demre Harbour, where the boat sets sail to Kekova around 10:30-10:45 a.m.
* The departure time and pick-up points are shown on the booking form.
Discover the fascinating secrets of Kekova’s history on this unique adventure around the Sunken City. The ancient city of Dolchiste was flooded due to an earthquake in the 2nd century, and its resulting underwater ruins never fail to leave an impression. Since this is a protected area, swimming is not permitted here, so what better way to explore the site than by cruising alongside the ruins on our boat with a glass window at the bottom, giving you a chance to capture unforgettable photos?
Entrance fee: 3 euros (or free with Museum Pass Turkey or Mediterranean Museum Pass)
Our boat will drop anchor in Kaleköy port (ancient Simena) for one hour, giving you time to visit this small authentic village, which is home to castle ruins and a necropolis. A hike up the hillside will provide you with magnificent views of the Kekova region. If you’d prefer to admire Simena Castle from down below, you can use your remaining time to take another dip in the gorgeous blue waters.
Time for a lunch and swim break at beautiful Esmeralda Bay, where you can enjoy peace and tranquillity during this fascinating journey.
Enjoy the peaceful ambience of this area during a swim break in Burç Bay, where the water feels cooler due to the cold underwater natural springs!
We’ll stop to swim in Gökkaya Bay, where you can experience the natural beauty of the area and opt to participate in one of the various exciting water sports on offer.
Discover this intriguing, naturally-formed cave renowned for its large size and curved entrance.
3 out of the 7 known sea turtle species can be found in the Mediterranean Sea. At Karemlik Bay, you’ll have the chance to look for these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
After your fascinating trip on the water, our boat will drop anchor in Demre port, where your tour continues with a visit to a nearby historical site.
Duration: up to 1 hour
Entrance fee: 10 euros (or free with Museum Pass Turkey or Mediterranean Museum Pass)
Your chance to discover Demre’s most famous archaeological site! A true step back in history as you observe some of Myra’s most significant ancient ruins dating as far back as the 5th century B.C. There is plenty of time to explore the two highlights of this stop: a Roman-style theatre (the largest in Lycia!) and eerie rock-cut tombs carved into the cliffs above.
Sadly, your tour must end, but not before we bring you back to Olympos, where you can continue your holiday in Turkey and remember all of the fascinating sights you saw today.
